As Laya walked to her room, she held high hopes about the future. Even when she lay down to sleep, she thought, "I wonder if this will lead to something."

Alas, all dreams must eventually come to an end. Her day was filled with activities and homework. This was not a time to be floating on cloud nine. Even when she let herself wander in class, she would pinch herself to snap out of it. "I will not think of him, I will not think of him," she thought.
When she finally had some time to breathe, he was there, sitting on a bench. Seemed like he was waiting, but then again the laptop proved her wrong.

Laya was finally able to gather enough courage to sit next to him. "Just make friendly conversation," her conscience whispered. So she started. And Josh responded, and they continued, laughing and smiling until it was time for her to leave. She didn't know what she accomplished, she didn't find out much about him. Nonetheless, whatever was dragging her down in the morning was lifted. Just a few moments around him and all could be forgotten.

In her next class, even though she thought it was interesting and she understood all the happenings, her heart seemed like it was not there. She sighed and cut out a heart. In the middle a gold key hole was placed. She wrote a few words and actually thought about giving it to him, but that would be too weird. They were only friends. It was too soon. She didn't even know if the feeling was true. She couldn't bear to think of it, nor throw away the picture. So she decided to give it to her roommate. She would not decide her fate so soon. She would leave her heart open.

To be continued...
